60 Years of Gratitude in Motion

Ghent · Bruges · Knokke · Antwerp — 13 to 18 June 2027

Sixty years ofgratitude, in motion.

How often do we truly pause to realise how fortunate we are? I know I rarely do. So next June I want to do exactly that — not alone, but together with you.

The span

Six days

Every day has its core moments, and a handful of options I have chosen for you around them. You are always free to follow your own curiosity instead.

The invitation

Back to where the story started

It all began at around ten in the morning on Friday, 16 June 1967, in Ghent. Sixty years on, I want to return to where my story started and travel through the places that shaped it — carrying nothing but gratitude for the life I have been given and the people I have shared it with.

The road will lead us to Knokke, where we will raise a glass together: a toast, a barbecue, great music and, above all, a lot of laughter.

You decide when, where and how much you want to join. Every day has its core events, and around them a handful of options I have chosen for you at each destination — though you are always free to follow your own interests and curiosity.

This isn't my trip — it's ours!

The route

Four cities, and a detour

  1. Ghent

    Where the story starts

We set out from the city I was born in, and walk the streets the whole thing began on.

The stone towers of Gravensteen castle rising above the rooftops of Ghent.
  2. Bruges

    Where we take our time

Two hours on foot, a brewery, a chocolate maker — and then out to Damme, seven kilometres by bike or thirty-five minutes by paddle steamer.

A canal in Bruges, brick gables leaning over still water.
The Lamme Goedzak paddle steamer on the canal between Bruges and Damme.
  3. Knokke

    Where we raise a glass

The coast, the birthday, and the long table. A toast, a barbecue, great music — and above all a lot of laughter.

The wide North Sea beach at Knokke under an open sky.
Knokke from the air: the North Sea and its beach along one edge, the red roofs of the town all around, the green of the golf course at its centre, and the polders reaching inland.
Knokke, where we raise a glass
  4. Antwerp

Where the road comes to rest

The last stop, and the last evening, before the six days let us go.

The Brabo fountain on Antwerp's Grote Markt, in front of the stepped gables of the guild houses.
